Man charges docs with negligence

Naranbhai Sonara, 65, a resident of Chadisar village in Ahmedabad district, filed a complaint at Sola police station against the doctors at Kesarsal Hospital who while operating his son, Praveen, for appendix had left behind a piece of cloth in his stomach.

The boy was rushed to Kesarsal Hospital on December 20, 2008 after he complained of severe abdominal pain. The doctors who had concluded that it was because of appendix treated Praveen and later discharged him on December 25. However, on January 6, 2009, Praveen suffered from similar pain. This time the doctors operated him saying it was necessary to take out dirt from his body and discharged him on January13. But the problem persisted. He was operated once again and the doctors removed pus from his body.

But on May 21, Praveen suffered from the pain again. This time, the family decided to take a second opinion and went to Shrey hospital, where the doctors operated Praveen and found a piece of cloth that was left inside his stomach at the time when he was operated first. The Sola police are investigating the case.
