Sardarnagar police arrested one Ramchandra, who murdered a woman he had been having an affair with in his bid for a son.
Sardarnagar police arrested one Ramchandra, a cold-hearted killer who ended the life of Maftu Meda, a female contract labourer to hide their affair. Ramchandra had murdered the woman and dumped her body behind the compound of ITI College in Sardarnagar area in January 2011 in broad daylight. However an eyewitness had seen him dump the body, which eventually led to his arrest!
The Sardarnagar police found the body of Maftu Meda, 30, a native of Dahod district who used to work in the city as a contract labourer on January 12. Maftu was married to Shanu Meda and had three kids. She had been missing from home for three days.
A post-mortem report said that Maftu had been strangled to death. Upon approaching the woman’s family, it was revealed that Maftu had run away from home twice. Police first suspected her husband but ruled him out following investigations.
A few days ago, Sardarnagar police inspector VS Sarvaiya received information about a woman having seen a man dumping a body at the exact same location. The lady revealed the man’s identity as one Ramchandra. The cops picked him up.
Ramchandra Harijan, a tea-stall owner, told police that he was having an extra-marital affair with Maftu. He had a daughter from his wife and was desperate for a son. He tried to get Maftu pregnant thinking she would bear him an heir. But soon Ramchandra found that Maftu had undergone a family planning operation. Meanwhile, Maftu had started telling him that if he did not leave his wife, she would commit suicide.
Frustrated with her behaviour and finding no good use of her, Ramchandra murdered Maftu and put her body on his motorcycle. He took the body to dump it behind the compound of ITI College in broad daylight.
