Man allegedly linked with Chhota Rajan nabbed near Uttar Pradesh

A 33-year-old man allegedly linked with underword dons Chhota Rajan, Aijaz Lakarwala and Bharat Nepali was arrested from Uttar Pradesh border, police said today.

Bhupinder Singh Vohra, 33, who is presently based in Kathmandu, was apprehended by a team of the special cell from Sounali Border in UP's Gorakhpur on specific intelligence.

Vohra, who hails from Nainital, is a rtionclose associate of extortionist Prakash Pandey with whom he is involved in cases of murder, extortion and attempt to murder in Delhi, Uttrakhand and other states. He was also booked under the National Security Act.

"He is also associated with underworld dons namely Chhota Rajan, Aijaz Lakarwala and Bharat Nepali. He is involved in 15 cases including two in Delhi," Arun Kampani, deputy commissioner of police (special cell), said.

Vohra, who carries a reward of Rs50,000 on his head, was wanted in Delhi in connection with two cases of extortion.

Both the cases were reported last year in which he threatened two businessman with dire consequences if they did not pay him Rs50 lakh each.

"Vohra and his alleged sharp shooter Prakash Pandey had been running an extortion racket for the last many years and a large number of  businessmen succumbed to their illegal demands and paid them fearing threat to their lives," Kampani said.

Pandey was the sharp shooter of Chhota Rajan and was recently deported from Vietnam and is presently in the custody of Mumbai police.

Uttrakhand police has declared a reward of Rs1 lakh for his arrest as he was evading arrest in a number of extortion, attempt to murder and abduction.
