The power struggle in the Majoor Mahajan Sangh, Ahmedabad, a labour union founded by Mahatma Gandhi, came to an end, at-least temporarily, on Saturday.

Official sources said that Ramanlal Patel, who was ousted as Sangh president following a controversial meeting in April, emerged the clear winner in Saturday's polls.
According to officials, 438 votes were cast in the Sangh elections, of which two were found to be invalid. Of the valid 436 votes, Patel secured 319 votes while his rival Suresh Kori won 117 votes.
"The number of votes I got shows that I have the support of the majority, and that the tactics adopted by rivals to remove me were illegal. The members have ensured that such tactics to remove me from the post of Sangh president have failed," an ecstatic Patel, said. Patel was elected president of Majoor Mahajan Sangh for a three-year period in 2007. However, he was removed from the post in April after he failed a controversial no-confidence motion, and Kori was elected the president. Patel approached the Industrial Court citing various irregularities in his removal from the post. The Court ruled in Patel's favour and directed that fresh elections be held to elect the president. Patel said that HC also upheld the lower court decision and asked for elections to decide the president.
Following the HC directive, the Sangh polls were held on Saturday. Out of 495 voters, 438 voters cast their votes. Patel was declared the winner following counting of votes.
