Main accused in Kothamangalam rape case arrested

The main accused in the case relating to a minor girl's rape at Kothamangalam in Ernakulam district was arrested on Monday.

Bekkar (27), against whom a lookout notice had been issued on Sunday, was arrested from Neriyamangalm in Idukki district.

Two former classmates of the 14-year-old girl, who is pregnant, have also been taken into custody, police said.

The girl told the police that besides her father, many others had sexually abused her for over a year.

So far 13 persons have been arrested in connection with the case.
