With the allies and opposition cornering the Centre over the issue of FDI in retail, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan today remained tight lipped saying that he would make a detailed statement on the matter at a later stage.

A detailed statement on the issue of FDI in retail would be made in the next few days, Chavan told reporters here.

When asked about the cabinet sub-committee report on the demand to enact separate legislation to prevent attacks on journalists, Chavan said the committee had submitted its report to him.

"Discussions on the proposals are on at an appropriate level and a decision would be taken accordingly," he said.

Chavan said he had held a review of the feedback received from committees instituted by the state Congress to discuss possibility of an alliance with the NCP for the municipal corporations, where elections will be held in February 2012.

Today discussions pertained to all the corporations facing polls, excluding Mumbai, he added.
