Magistrate booked under murder, dowry act in Ludhiana

A judicial magistrate, his mother and three relatives have been booked by police under various sections of the IPC, including attempt to murder and dowry act, on the basis of a complaint filed by his wife.

"A case under various sections has been registered here against Judicial Magistrate Baljinder Singh (First class) posted at Amritsar," SSP Sukhchain Singh Gill said here today.

Gill said that while the magistrate and his two sisters are absconding, his mother Surjit Kaur and uncle Iqbal Singh have been arrested.

The FIR was lodged by the magistrate's wife, Karandeep Kaur, who is the daughter of a senior Akali leader and Municipal Councillor Pal Singh Grewal of Jamalpur, Ludhiana.
