Madhya Pradesh's BJP government will launch a yatra from September 23 to formulate strategies for better implementation of schemes meant for tribal welfare.
 
Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan would launch `Vanvasi Adhikar Samman Yatra' at Birda village in Khandwa district, officials said here today.
 
Birda is the native place of legendary tribal freedom fighter Tantya Bhil, popularly known as Tantya Mama.
 
During the tour, first hand information relating to the land problems of tribals would be looked into by the government officials and efforts would be made to solve them, they added.
 
Meanwhile, tribal and scheduled caste welfare minister Vijay Shah, during a meeting here yesterday, said more than 1.23 lakh forest pattas (land deeds) had been given to tribals under Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006 in the State so far.
 
Shah said that forest rights would be the main agenda in the forthcoming Gram Sabha meetings beginning from October 2, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi.
