Low-intensity blast leaves 12 injured in Uttar Pradesh

At least 12 people were injured this evening in a low-intensity bomb blast during electioneering for Panchayat elections in a village in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district.

A packet kept on a cycle exploded when supporters of a candidate were campaigning in Barwala village, police said.

At least 12 people were hurt in the explosion and they were admitted to hospital.

Another packet was found near the cycle sparking panic, police said adding the entire area was cordoned off.
