The Lok Satta party has called upon the legislative assembly to end the political uncertainty in Andhra Pradesh, by resolving the state bifurcation issue.

The uncertainty for the last one and half years had led to paralysis in administration and caused a setback to economic development, the party said in a resolution adopted at its two-day state working committee meeting, which concluded yesterday.

Briefing the media today, party's working president DVVS Varma said that there could be no greater misfortune than the assembly's failure to discuss this important issue.

With the two main political parties (Congress and Telugu Desam Party) split on regional lines, the assembly should take the initiative in hammering out an acceptable solution and ending the political uncertainty, he said.

The Lok Satta party would organise a campaign between March 15 to March 20, during which people would write letters and civil society organisations would hold meetings appealing to legislators to discuss the issue and arrive at a solution, he said.
