Lok Adalat settles 178 cases in Jammu

Four benches were constituted to deal with matrimonial disputes, regular bank and pre-litigation matters, petty criminal matters related to municipal Acts, passenger tax and electricity use.

Lok Adalat has settled 178 cases, mainly pertaining to matrimonial disputes, bank litigation, criminal matters among other issues at the district court complex here today.
    
Four benches were constituted to deal with matrimonial disputes, regular bank and pre-litigation matters, petty criminal matters related to municipal Acts, passenger tax and electricity use, an official spokesman said.
    
The first bench was presided over by principal district and sessions judge Jammu BL Bhat in which 24 matrimonial cases were taken up, settling 15 of them.
    
An sum of Rs8.40 lakh was realised as permanent alimony in the matrimonial cases, he said.
    
The second bench presided over by third additional sessions judge Jammu RS Jain in which 30 bank cases were taken up and 27 were settled, he said.
    
The Third bench presided over by chief judicial magistrate (CJM) Jammu YP Bourney in which 95 regular and petty criminal cases were taken up and out of which 54 cases were settled.
    
Eighty two petty criminal matters were of electricity related issues, out of 138 were settled by the fourth bench presided over by passenger tax magistrate Jammu YP Kotwal, he said.
