Twenty-four rounds of firing and four guns full of cartridges did little to scare the brave masses of Kapadwanj, who nabbed two goons after a one-km and 75 minute-long chase. The incident has forced the district police head to recommend a few names from the public for bravery awards.

Speaking to DNA, district superintendent of police for Nadiad district, Himanshu Shukla, said that the people of Kapadwanj showed extreme courage in nabbing the two armed goons. "They did not let them go till their cartridges were finished, and continued following them. Manhar Rabari, one from the public, threw a cricket bat at one of the goons who fell down, and was eventually nabbed by the people", he said.

The goons were not only nabbed by the public but were also identified by one among them. Rabari, who was standing at a pan shop, heard two people talking about firing from the guns. "Rabari spoke about the chat he heard to a police friend, who asked him (Rabari) to keep a tab on both of them, and said that the police would soon join him," a police source said.

Rabari, along with two other friends, later followed both the suspects when they went on a motorbike. "The three later stopped the two on the bike, and started questioning them. This scared the two and they eventually started firing," said the source.
