BJP leader and former deputy Prime Minister LK Advani on Saturday dared the UPA government to arrest him also in the cash-for-votes scam, in which three former BJP MPs and other leaders are already in jail. The BJP stalwart was speaking at a public meeting in Daman on the arrival of his Rath Yatra in the union territory.

“The BJP MPs have been wrongly jailed. They had no role in the cash-for-votes scam and only exposed it. If they did any wrong, then I should also be put in jail,” he said.

Advani also said that besides corruption and inflation, BJP would also raise the issue of Indian money stashed away in foreign banks in the upcoming winter session of parliament.

He also accused the UPA government of not being serious in bringing back black money. “Lakhs of crores of Indian money has been put away in foreign banks, which if brought back and utilised, can change the face of rural India. The country can emerge as a global superpower if the black money is brought back,” he further said.

Advani also spoke about black money and corruption in the UPA government, during a public meeting in Silvassa earlier in the day. He also spoke about the Rs1.76 lakh crore in the allotment of 2G spectrum.

“The Congress has become synonymous with corruption,” he charged. The Rath Yatra was slated to reach Silvassa in the afternoon, but it arrived only around 4.30pm. The Yatra, which has passed through several states, is scheduled to enter Gujarat at Vapi at 10.00 am on Sunday. Chief Minister Narendra Modi will welcome the yatra which will reach Surat after passing through Valsad and  Navsari on Sunday.

Advani, Modi and their entourage will halt at Surat for the night and proceed further on Monday morning. The yatra is expected to reach Ahmedabad on Monday evening after passing through Bharuch, Vadodara and Anand.
