Seeking to scotch speculations of infighting within the party over alliance with Lalu Prasad's RJD, the LJP legislature party in Assembly and legislative council of Bihar met today and endorsed the party's stand on continuing alliance with RJD.

"We stand by the party national executive's decision to continue alliance with RJD in larger interests of people," Maheshwar Singh, LJP legislature party leader in the assembly told reporters after the meeting.

Taking back his earlier stand seeking severing of ties with RJD, Singh said it was "my personal view but not a stand of the party".

"We are firmly behind our leader Ramvilas Paswan who is authorised to hold negotiations with Lalu Prasad on the contentious issue of seat-sharing in view of the elections to the state assembly due towards end of this year," he said.

"We are confident of the alliance winning majority of the seats in Bihar to form the next government," he said.

All the 12 MLAs, 3 MLCs, two independent MLAs, besides LJP General Secretaries Surajbhan Singh and Ramchandra Paswan were present in the meeting.

Earlier on Tuesday, Singh had demanded severing of ties with RJD "in the larger interests of LJP".

"LJP had to pay heavily in alliance with RJD during the Lok Sabha polls and it will cost dearly to us if we go ahead with RJD in the assembly elections to be held by the end of this year," he had said.
