The ruling JD(U) today received a boost after its rival LJP's Extremely Backward Cell chairman Vijay Kumar Sahni and vice-president Bachu Prasad Viru joined the party.

The development comes days after the minority cell of Ram Vilas Paswan-led party joined the JD(U).

The two leaders announced their decision to join the party in the presence of Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and state JD(U) President Vijay Kumar Choudhary.

Sahni claimed that the entire Cell had merged with the JD(U) expressing unflinching faith in the leadership of Kumar.

Choudhary announced that several other office bearers of the LJP Cell, besides the presidents and secretaries in various districts of the state too joined along with him.

Welcoming them into his party, Kumar said their joining would further strengthen the JD(U).

"It has further vindicated my statement that the LJP has reduced to mere cell of RJD of Lalu Prasad," he said.

The chief minister assured them of full cooperation and respect in the party and recalled that Sahni was an important leader of the JP Movement.
