Abdul Wahab, brother of slain gangster Abdul Latif, has asked for home food as he is a heavy diabetic and suffers from piles. Wahab had filed an application for the same on Thursday through jail authorities, and was produced before the magistrate court on Monday.
Wahab, while narrating his health issues, told the court that doctors have advised him to have less spicy and less oily food. Moreover, he has been prescribed a special diet due to his health issues. However, the prosecution lawyer, when asked, said that it is best for the jail authorities to decide in the matter. The court has now sought the opinion of the jail authority and has reserved the case for order.
Wahab was arrested by the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) for his alleged involvement in the Sagir Ahmed murder case of 1997. Wahab was arrested on the basis of a statement given by Siddique Ghanti who was arrested a few days back. His advocate, Saleem Hakim, however said that he has no role to play but has been falsely implicated in the case.
Sagir was killed by Jayraj and Kaviraj at the behest of Wahab in 1997 after he (Sagir) filed an extortion complaint against Latif with the DCB. DCB sources said that Ghanti, who had allegedly provided the weapons in the Sagir murder case, had fled to Dubai after the killing. He was nabbed on the basis of a tip-off a few days back. During his interrogation, Ghanti revealed that Sagir had been killed at the behest of Wahab. Sources also said that DCB has got testimonies which show that Wahab was the key conspirator in the Sagir murder case.
