'Legend in Leadership Award' for Ratan Tata

Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata was today conferred the prestigious 'Legend in Leadership Award' of the Yale Chief Executive Leadership Institute.

The noted industrialist received the award at the 64th Yale CEO Leadership Summit in Mumbai from Yale University President Richard C Levin, a release said.

"No company and no living leader better embodies the themes of this CEO Summit than the Tata Group in general, and Chairman Ratan Tata in particular," Yale School of Management senior associate dean, professor Sonnenfeld, said.

Tata, 73,  has led one of India's most venerated family enterprises and largest conglomerate, which includes prestigious hotel chains (the Taj) and vast steel making operations as well as leading forces in consulting, wireless, and cable services, he said.

"Tata has been a model of entrepreneurial creativity, institutional transformation, global greatness, and inspiring integrity," Sonnenfeld said.

Tata is among eight business leaders from across the world shortlisted by the prestigious Fortune magazine for its 'Business Person of the Year'.

The magazine will name its 'Business Person of the Year' on November 18.
