It took the Ahmedabad police less than half an hour to recover a laptop, cash and clothes worth Rs1 lakh stolen from an Innova car near Gurdwara on SG highway on Wednesday morning.

The thieves were nabbed thanks to the joint effort of Sardarnagar and Vastrapur police.

The incident happened at around 10.45 am on Wednesday when six people, two on a bike and four in an autorickshaw, stole a laptop worth Rs40,000 and clothes and cash from an Innova parked at Sumel-2, near Gurdwara on SG Highway.

The owner of the car, Vikram Barad saw the incident from the window of his office.
He tried to shout for help but the gang escaped with the goods in the autorickshaw in which they had come. By the time Barad came down, the rickshaw had left the spot.
He asked for help from people present on the spot.

"I begged for a bike or any other vehicle to chase the thieves, but none came forward to help me," Barad told DNA.

Meanwhile, Barad informed the Vastrapur police station. Police inspector of Vastrapur police station, RK Ladwa said that the modus operandi used by the thieves were similar to the one Chhara gang living in the jurisdiction of Sardarnagar police station.

"So we immediately informed the Sardarnagar police, who blocked the roads and found the rickshaw. The gang was arrested near Maya Cinema in Kubernagar," said Ladwa.
The arrested have been identified as Harshad alias Mungda Tamaichi (32), Naresh Kanglani (32), Ajay Tamaichi (28), Sanjay alias Vicky Gagdekar (20), while Dhingu Sindhi and Rajesh Chhara are still at large. The duo were travelling on a bike.
