Observing that Bihar "fared poorly" in the growth of agriculture sector, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad today rapped the NDA government for its promise to make the state a developed one by 2015 without its backbone (agriculture) supporting economic growth.

"Bihar has been faring poorly in the growth of its agriculture sector over the years and was ranked 20th among the states in terms of agriculture growth....under the circumstance how could the NDA government promise to make the state a developed by 2015," he said at a function to mark 634th birth anniversary of a spiritual leader Sant Ravidas.

The state lacked industrial development and there were few employment opportunities available in the state which forced its large work force to migrate elsewhere to find jobs and sustain their families back home, Prasad said.

Whatever development was taking place in Bihar was due to the implementation of various Central flagship programmes, he claimed and asked the state government to explain as to which specific development project or welfare schemes did it launch from its own revenue.

The RJD chief, however, said that he was not not interest in attacking the NDA government's performance for at least six months since the conclusion of the assembly polls late last year in which his RJD-LJP alliance was annihilated.

"I have promised not to speak about the performance of the NDA government for at least six months, but will not hesitate to give 'injection' to the ruling coalition when the time come," he said.

Warning the NDA government against injecting false hope of development and prosperity of the people, Prasad said that the day was not far away when the people of Bihar may take to streets to protest against the rulers like Egypt, Libya and other countries.

Referring to the assembly poll results, the RJD supremo did not hide his astonishment at the verdict and said that it will take time for him to understand and analyse the 'mysterious' results.

He, however, sought to draw solace saying that he was among a handful of national leaders who name and charisma translated in 80 lakh votes for his party at the hustings.

The RJD chief also made a passing reference to the black money being stashed in the foreign banks by the corrupt people and said that the Centre should make efforts to bring back the money and put it in use for development works.
