Krishi Mahotsav to bring about revolution in agri sector: Narendra Modi

He said that the mega event has helped farmers increase productivity, especially horticulture, with the help of soil health cards, thereby taking optimum advantage of soil conditions by growing suitable crops.

Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi today exuded confidence about the success of 'Krishi Mahotsav' being organised in the state which would bring about a revolution in an agrarian country like India.
       
"Krishi Mahotsavs have helped the state increase its agricultural production and establish its identity as a front ranked agricultural state. The agricultural production, in value terms, has increased from Rs14,000 crore to Rs59,000 crore over the last decade and is expected to touch Rs70,000 crore this year," Modi said.
       
He was speaking at a function of Krishi Mahotsav organised at Nanapondha village of Valsad district. Modi had launched the mega event on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. The 'mahotsav' which is in its seventh year seeks to educate farmers about latest developments in farming.
       
"The mega event has helped farmers increase productivity, especially horticulture, with the help of soil health cards, thereby taking optimum advantage of soil conditions by growing suitable crops," Modi said.
       
Modi also inaugurated a milk chilling plant with one lakh litres of storage capacity at village Motapondha.
