Kota bridge mishap: Another body found; toll rises to 42

One more body was recovered today from the debris, while a person injured in the accident succumbed at the hospital, taking the toll in the collapse of an under-construction bridge over Chambal river here to 42, even as efforts continued to extricate the remaining six persons from under the rubble.

Both of them hailed from West Bengal, he said, adding that rescuers are busy trying to recover the six persons still trapped under the debris.

However, despite over a week since the accident occurred, there has been no official comment on the reasons that led to the mishap.

While secretary Disaster Management and Relief Department Tanmay Kumar is on leave, his deputy refused to say anything on the matter referring it to secretary Rural Development and Panchyatiraj Alok Kumar, who said he is just holding the charge of the department in the absence of Tanmay Kumar, who may say something on the matter when he returns.
