Kolkat Muniacipal Corporation (KMC) will not waive off the amusement tax dues for IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) whose owner Shah Rukh Khan has been signed as the state's brand ambassador, Mayor Sovan Chatterjee said on Friday.

"Nothing about this was discussed at the meeting with him yesterday. We are not waiving it off now," Chatterjee said.

Khan had met Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and other ministers at her office on Thursday evening where plans about how to promote the state through a campaign involving the actor was discussed.

The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) had earlier sent notice to KKR to clear their amusement tax dues worth Rs20.5 lakh incurred during the IPL last season.

For this year, KMC officials said they will levy an amusement tax of Rs9.75 lakh per match totalling to Rs78 lakh for all the matches during the current IPL season.
