Kishenji, Dipak were present during land movement in Nandigram

Though the Maoist leader, Dipak Telegu had given some information, interrogators of the CID were trying to extract more on his activities in the state.

Koteswar Rao alias Kishenji and arrested Maoist leaderVenkateshwar Reddy alias Dipak Telegu were present during the violent movement against establishment of a chemical hub in Nandigram in 2007, a senior police official claimed today.

This came out during the interrogation by CID of Dipak, arrested on February 2, West Bengal director general of police Bhupinder Singh told reporters here.

At Nandigram, Kishenji was known as Sukumar and Dipak as Gouranga, he said.

"Dipak is suspected to have been involved in all Maoist activities in the state since 1999," he said.

Since Maoists had connections with ULFA, LTTE and some ultra outfits in Jammu and Kashmir, it was being ascertained if Dipak was associated with them, Singh said.

Two IB teams from Chhattisgarh and Delhi arrived here to interrogate the arrested Maoist leader. A Special Task Force team from Andhra Pradesh is already here, he said.

Though the Maoist leader had given some information, interrogators of the CID were trying to extract more on his activities in the state, he said.

He announced a reward of Rs1 lakh to the police team which arrested Dipak. Such rewards were earlier given to those who had arrested Maoist leader Somen.

To a question, Singh said he had not received any request for appointing a lawyer for Dipak from any human rights organisation or other sources.
