Kiran Kumar Reddy to visit Delhi for discussion on Telangana

The Congress high command directed Reddy to come to New Delhi to discuss the statehood issue as the Centre was likely to take a final decision on the recommendations of the Justice Srikrishna Committee.

Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will visit New Delhi on a two-day trip tomorrow to confer with the Congress leadership on the contentious statehood issue, ahead of the all-party meeting to be convened by the Centre.

The Congress high command directed Reddy to come to New Delhi to discuss the statehood issue as the Centre was likely to take a final decision on the recommendations of the Justice Srikrishna Committee, sources in the chief minister's office here said.

Though he planned to leave for New Delhi tonight, Reddy put off his trip because of some official engagements here. He will now leave for the national capital at 6.30am tomorrow. Besides meeting the leaders of Congress core committee, the chief minister will also interact with several Union ministers on various pending issues related to the state.

He will meet Union railway minister Mamata Banerjee and discuss the pending railway projects as well as request her to introduce 35 new trains from the state. He is also expected to meet the new water resources minister Salman Kurshid, home minister P Chidambaram and others, the CMO sources said.
