Khokhra gets new police station

The city police will give Amdavadis a New Year gift: A new police station in Khokhra to improve law and order in the area. To be known as Khokhra Police Station, it will be the 38th police station in the city when it is inaugurated on Oct 27.

Setting up a new police station at Khokhra was necessitated in view of the rising number of crimes in Amraiwadi, which is notorious for incidents like gambling, diesel-theft, bootlegging, murder, kidnapping, and gang war. Amraiwadi area, in a sense, is home to a large percentage of criminals in the city.

Now, Khokhra area falls under Amraiwadi police station jurisdiction. But because of the large geographical area that Amraiwadi police have to cover, it has been observed for long that policing has not been effective in the area, particularly in the face of rising crime rate. 

The decision to open the new police station was taken by police commissioner Sudhir Sinha. He said that Khokhra police station would focus on tackling crime in the area which was not possible till now.

The new police station will cover Khokhra area and part of Hatkeshwar area.  It will have strength of 101 personnel, including a PIs and six police sub-inspectors.
