The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) has demanded hoarding space to promote films. KFCC president Basanth Kumar Patil and other members met mayor SK Nataraj on Thursday seeking space for 50 hoardings in the city. The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has assured the chamber that it will help the film industry grow.

To protect the beauty of the city and prevent the posters’ menace, the BBMP has booked cases under the Karnataka Open Place (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act, 1981, against producers whose films’ posters were found displayed in public places. Former president of the FKCC, Jayamala, had written to the BBMP requesting that producers be allotted about 1,000 hoardings in the city. The BBMP had not considered her request as she had requested the display boards in prime locations falling under the A zone, where any display of advertisement is prohibited.

Mayor SK Nataraj said, “I will discuss the matter with the commissioner, Siddaiah, so that space can be allotted for about  50 hoardings at a nominal fee. Posters will be allowed only in ‘B’ and ‘C’ zones, not in ‘A’ zones.”
