Karnataka governor seeks detailed report from Yeddyurappa on land scams

Karnataka governor HR Bhardwaj has sought a detailed report from chief minister BS Yeddyurappa on the allegations of land scandals that have surfaced against him.

Bhardwaj has written two letters to Yeddyurappa asking him to furnish a report on charges of land scams against his government and also on mining affairs involving three Bellary ministers-- tourism minister G Janardhana Reddy, his brother revenue minister G Karunakara Reddy and their associate health minister B Sreeramulu, official sources said in Bangalore.

Sources said Bhardwaj has annexed media reports that have appeared in recent days on land scams and other allegations against the chief minister and members of his family.

The governor's action came ahead of zilla and taluk panchayat elections.

The land scam claimed its first political victim early this month with Katta Subramanya Naidu resigning from the ministry after Lokayukta filed an FIR against him and ten others in connection with some irregulariities in the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB).
