Even as  admissions for the second list of bifocals admissions came to an end on Saturday, students are keeping fingers crossed for the first general merit list to be put up on Monday.

Those who did not get seats in the first two rounds of bifocals  will have to seek admissions under the general stream.

Around 6,700 students have confirmed admissions in the first two rounds.

Sunil Chavan, deputy director for school education, Mumbai, said, “There are enough seats available for students this year. If we are lacking seats, we have several applications for new divisions and even for new colleges.”

After the second round of admissions, 1,326 students of the 2,910 of those who had made it to the list in this round secured their seats. The remaining seats, in addition to the 491 that remained with the department as no one opted for these colleges, leaves a total of 2,075 vacancies in the vocational stream itself.

The total number of applications i.e. 2,06,783 includes the bifocal course applications which were also done online. Out of them, 10,769 students were already allotted seats.

The first merit list for the general admissions (excluding bifocal courses) will be out on Monday evening. Students will get to know the status of their applications online i.e. whether or not they have been allotted a seat in college. The admissions for all the students who have been allotted a seat will start from Tuesday, for four days from 10am to 1pm.

Even if one is  not happy with the college allotted,  one is required to take provisional admission to the college, to be eligible for a better chance in the following lists. Provisional admission can be taken with minimal non-refundable charge of Rs50.
