The Court, on July 2, 2009, passed a ruling de-criminalising homosexual intercourse between consenting adults and judged section 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) as conflicting with the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution of India.
The guild, in the latest issue of their mouthpiece, HOPE (Holiness Obtained by Practising Ethics), has said "the unwarranted hype, discussions, debates and distortion by media on homosexuality has put human understanding into oblivion."
"The church hates homosexuality but loves homosexuals and invites them to experience God's liberating grace and come to attain the wholeness and holiness of life that every person is called to live," the guild said.
HOPE has contributions by imminent medicos from Goa including Dr Silvano Sapeco, Dr R G Wiseman Pinto, Dr F Couto, Dr S Rebello, Dr Aurea Mascarenhas and others.
"Homosexuality is a sensitive issue and the church has been very sensitive to the difficulties, hardships and problems faced by the homosexuals," the magazine, in its chapter 'The Church and Homosexuality' reads.
"Very little is being known and much is needed to be revealed concerning the conditions and orientation of homosexuals," it adds.
The doctors have clarified that "church does not label anyone as homosexual and even condemns violent malice either in speech or action against them.
"To call someone homosexual is to refer to only one aspect of the person and it is a sin against charity," the article reads.
