The preparations for Christmas have been going on in full swing and Christians all over the city have left no stone unturned to ensure that the spirit of the festival is kept alive.

This time around, it's the youth who have geared up themselves for the preparations. Scores of young boys and girls belonging to the city Christian youth groups have been involved in setting up decorations in their respective churches. In addition, much care has been taken by them to ensure that the traditional Christmas tree and crib that signifies the birth of Christ be placed carefully inside the church to show the true Christian spirit.

Bishop of Ahmedabad Diocese, Thomas Macwan said, "The youth have been getting itself involved in visiting Christian homes along with the priests to all Christian homes. They have been helping in decoration of churches too."

He added, "Youth have also gone to homes for the destitute and orphans and have given them a Christmas message. Also, in other programmes during the Christmas week, the youth will play an important role." "On the 29th December in the Mirzapur parish, there is a family get together and the youth would be playing an active role there."

Youth director of Diocese of Ahmedabad, Fr Paresh Parmar said, "Every year we organise several activities for youngsters in the city, ensuring their active involvement in Christmas celebrations.”
