Informer's network, a close study of modus-operandi of Saurashtra gangs, clues from the bike recovered from the scene of crime and technology helped cops crack the Amit Jethwa murder case.

The Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) arrested constable, Bahadur Wadher serving in the Gir Gadhada police station in Junagadh for killing Jethava. Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP), DCB, Mohan Jha said that Wadher met his friend Paachan Shiva to help him in the act.

Wadher, an influential cop, lives in a posh bungalow in Junagadh. He had bought 12 bigha land near Gir Forest, five km of which fell in the forest area. “Due to Jethwa's intervention, Wadher could not start mining work on his land and suffered a loss of Rs10 lakh,” Jha told reporters.

Wadher and Paachan then met Shailesh Pandya who was introduced to them as Yusuf. Pandya agreed to kill Jethwa for Rs12 to 15 lakh and took Rs6 lakh as advance.

The final meeting for contract killing was held in Diu. They tried to kill Jethwa 10 days before the actual murder, but failed and kept a watch on Jethwa’s schedule. Police, who are yet to arrest Pandya and Paachan, interrogated Sameer Vora of Surendranagar, the owner of the bike used in the murder. Vora had lent the bike to Wadher without knowing the motive.
