JD(U), which opened its electoral account in Delhi through a victory in a municipal ward, is likely to support BJP in South Delhi Corporation where the saffron party is in need of nine seats for majority.

Chandra Prakash of JD(U) won the Govindpuri ward defeating Congress' Rakesh Chander Issar by a margin of 6,719 votes. Prakash polled 11,558 votes.

BJP has won 44 out of 104 wards in South Delhi Corporation is in need of nine seats to attain majority and is hoping that party rebels who won and national allies JD(U) and INLD (three seats) will support it.

"We have not received any request from BJP. When we will get it, party president Sharad Yadav will take a call on it," JD(U) General Secretary Javed Raza told PTI.

Asked whether JD(U) will support as it had fought against BJP in around 40 wards, Raza indicated that they will support the saffron party if it sends a request.

"In politics, you do not have a permanent friend or a permanent foe," he said.

Bouyed by the victory, he said the party will now further strengthen the party in the capital and field its candidates in the Assembly elections next year.

The winner Prakash said the people of Delhi have voted for the betterment and change.

Sharad Yadav had campaigned for Prakash during the fag end of campaigning. Prakash had also brought Bhojpuri actor Manoj Tiwari.
