A Junior Commissioned Officer of Border Roads Organisation allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle here, police said today.

Subedar Karan Singh, posted at signal centre, yesterday shot himself by his carbine rifle at BRO headquarters at Rangreth on the outskirts of Srinagar, they said, adding he died on the spot.

The reason behind him taking the extreme step are not known yet, they said.
