"Especially increase in kerosene and LPG price will adversely affect the poor and middle class people," he said.

The Centre Of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) said it would organise a 24-hour transport strike in the state in the next few days to protest price hike of petroleum products.

"All representative transport trade unions of CITU would be conducting a state-wide strike in the next few days. A decision on the date will be taken soon", CITU state Secretary A Sounderajan told PTI.

Strongly condemning the fuel increase, he said,"through this move, the standard of living has been attacked by the government. We will be holding demonstration at important cities in the state after holding talks with Unions", he said.

However, train services and essential services would be kept outside the purview of the strike.
