The expulsion of Jaswant Singh from the party has generated many comments against India especially the right to free speech by the Pakistani bloggers.
Always looking for hot issues, the book by Jaswant Singh on Jinnah and the resultant controversy has become the latest topic for hot debate among bloggers, with the ones in Pakistan criticising the sacking of the BJP senior leader by the Indian opposition party.
"BJP is an intolerant party and will never accept the truth even if it comes out from the mouths of their well educated and famous party members," says Owais Ehsan, a Pakistani blogger.
The expulsion of Jaswant Singh from the party has generated many comments against India especially the right to free speech by the Pakistani bloggers.
"India should show some good gesture to the world that they are welcoming the suggestions, ideas, debates and thoughts of their own people," says another Pakistani blogger, Sajjad Awan.
"Ironically, Singh's ideological tussle with the BJP is somewhat similar to Jinnah's own battle with the Congress Party of yore. Both were active proponents of party ideology, and both disengaged after intellectual disagreements. The only difference is that while Singh has shifted ground from supporting a nationalist right-wing party to intellectual liberalism, Jinnah moved from pursuing secular, liberal policies to rallying the masses with hard, communal appeals," says Kalsoom, yet another blogger.
The war of words does not stop on Jinnah, Jaswant Singh or Vallabhai Patel, some bloggers even dig deeper while criticizing the role of Congress during the freedom struggle.
"When Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Ashfaqullah Khan, Ram Prasad Bismil were fighting to unite the country, why was congress and Muslim league trying to create a ditch between the two communities," says Shubham, an Indian blogger.
Reflecting his views on the volley of criticism about secularism and democracy in India, an Indian blogger, Kapil Rajesh Pandav says, "BJP has brought a bad name for us; it is taking us nowhere. Still, we badly need BJP as a counter force to congress so as to survive as a democracy".
The partition has become a favourite with many bloggers. Zainab Jeewanjee, a blogger who writes for the 'Foreign Policy Blogs Network' says, "So praising Jinnah as a 'great man' in India may be akin to condoning the very fracturing of India. In Pakistan, it's lauded as an admission that their founder heroically created a homeland where Muslims would no longer be downtrodden."
Calling Jaswant Singh a revolutionary, Sanjeev Miglani, a blogger says, "Jaswant Singh has got something up his sleeve and it's something very good for India and very good for Pakistan. I think he just didn't write a book, he's begun a revolution".
One of the Indian bloggers, kochuthresiamma, however says, "While time owes it to the nation to set records straight, I wish it were done in a more honourable and statesmanlike manner".
