"The state government is providing Rs56.73 crore financial assistance to nearly 1.5 lakh beneficiaries in the state. While the Central government is providing Rs30 crore for these pension schemes, the share of the state government is Rs20.66 crore," state minister for social welfare Sakina Ittoo said yesterday after a review meeting held here.
Giving the breakup of the spendings in the social welfare sector, she said Rs50.31 crore is being provided annually as monthly pension to 1029 lakh old aged persons under Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS).
"Rs1.84 crore is being given to 4730 widows under Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS) and Rs1.57 crore to 4048 physically challenged persons under Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS)," she said.
Ittoo said Rs 3 crore are being provided to those 3000 families who lost their bread earner, as onetime relief of Rs10,000 per family under National Family Benefit Scheme.
The minister said that the state share of all the pension schemes of the department will be enhanced and brought to the level of Central contribution in near future.
She stressed upon the officers to conduct awareness camps in far off places of the state and make on the spot registration of those deserving persons who are yet to access the schemes.
