J&K govt issues blanket ban on sale of army uniforms

No reason was assigned for the ban, which was in force in the entire valley earlier due to misuse of army uniforms by militants particularly during suicide attacks.

Jammu and Kashmir government today issued a blanket ban on selling or stocking army uniforms to public or police in Anantnag district of South Kashmir with immediate effect.

"A blanket ban has been imposed on cloth merchants and shopkeepers within the territorial jurisdiction of Anantnag till further orders for selling or stocking army uniform to public and police," an official spokesman said.

No reason was assigned for the ban, which was in force in the entire valley earlier due to misuse of army uniforms by militants particularly during suicide attacks.

The spokesman said the ban was ordered by the Anantnag district administration and any person found indulging in such sale and stocking shall be brought to book under law and the material seized forthwith.
