Ahmedabad, for the first time on Wednesday, played host to Ivy League officials who came calling in the city to encourage and
explain admissions in universities under it.

Ivy League is a congregation of eight prestigious universities in the United States, revered world over for their academic excellence.

Representatives from the admission office of the undergraduate courses at University of Chicago, Columbia University, Brown University and Barnard College met parents and students from Ahmedabad International School (AIS) in an interactive session on Wednesday.

Panetha Theodosia Nychis Ott, director of International Admission at Brown University, said that they get many Indian students at the varsity she represents.

“Majority of students are from Mumbai or New Delhi. We are touring India to encourage more students from other states to be a part of Ivy League,” said Ott.

“Though we have visited India on several occasions, this is the first time we have come to Gujarat to talk about the university we represent,” she added.

Sonal Ambani, one of the parents who attended the session, said it is good to have interactions with representatives of such premier universities to understand their admission process and courses.

“Such interactions will enhance understanding of different aspects of education at Ivy League, encouraging more students to study there,” said Dr Tarulata, director, AIS.
