IT sector in Tamil Nadu showing steadfast development: State IT minister

The Information Technology sector in Tamil Nadu has been showing steadfast development after the global economic recession, State IT minister Poongothai Aladi Aruna has said.

The minister stated this after reviewing the progress of work on two IT parks here yesterday.

She expressed disappointment over the slow pace of work and said the govenment has been holding talks with various companies to ensure all the work is over by September.

The minister directed District Collector C Kamaraj to ensure that work on the Illanthaikulam and Vadapalani IT parks, which began in 2008, is completed by September.

She said this after talks on progress of work with Adi Dravida welfare minister ATamilarasi, ELCOT managing director Sandosh Babu and the district collector C Kamaraj during inspection of the sites yesterday.

Poongothai said these IT parks together would provide direct employment to 5,000 persons and indirect employment to nearly 20,000 others.
