Amidst allegations of custodial harassment, journalist Syed Mohammed Ahmad Kazmi, arrested for his alleged role in the February 13 bombing of an Israeli diplomat car, was on Saturday remanded in judicial custody by a court here after the Delhi Police said he was not needed for further interrogation.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vinod Yadav sent Kazmi in judicial custody till April 7 even as the police was earlier given his custody till March 27.

The Special Cell of Delhi Police told the court that Kazmi was not required for further interrogation and more information would be gathered only after the arrest of other accused in the Israeli diplomat attack case.

The move comes after the Delhi Police was specifically told by CMM Yadav on March 21 not to permit any other probe agency to interrogate Kazmi.

The court's order came on Kazmi's plea alleging he was being interrogated by officials of other investigating agencies, like Mossad of Israel, RAW, IB and others.

The court had, however, said the police were not barred from sharing information with other investigating agencies like RAW and IB and those of other countries, particularly of Israel and Iran, as India is a signatory to the UN Convention of Prevention and Suppression of Terrorism (Implementation of Security Council Resolution), 2007.

The Delhi Police had denied the allegation, saying so far no agency of any other country, particularly Mossad, has come to interrogate Kazmi and his application has been filed merely on apprehension.

Kazmi was arrested on March 7 and remanded in police custody for 20 days.
