Andhra Pradesh chief minister K Rosaiah walked out of an official review meeting this evening after Telugu Desam Party MLAs raised 'Jai Telangana' slogans but returned to continue the proceedings once the legislators apologised.

TDP MLAs and former ministers Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy and Mandava Venkateswara Rao raised 'Jai Telangana' slogans as the chief minister entered the conference hall to conduct the Nizamabad district review meeting at the state Secretariat.

Irked by this, Rosaiah walked out of the conference hall in presence of the mediapersons.

Medical education minister P Sudarshan Reddy and higher education minister D Sridhar Babu spoke to the TDP MLAs and pleaded with them not to disrupt the meeting as it was intended for discussing the district development issues and also the people's problems.

The TDP MLAs then went to the chief minister's chamber and reportedly apologised over the issue following which the latter returned to continue the meeting.

Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy then said they did not mean to hurt the chief minister by raising the 'Jai Telangana' slogans.

"We have every respect for you and we also know that the statehood issue is not in your hands. But we only wanted to raise the Telangana issue as per the people’s aspirations," Pocharam said.

The meeting then continued and the chief minister reviewed issues related to Nizamabad district.

Rosaiah had been holding district-wise review meetings since January 16 in the secretariat to deliberate on the issues confronting the people in respective constituencies and issue necessary instructions to officials to sort out the issues.

It was the first time that any MLA raised pro-Telangana slogans in the review meeting.
