In yet another attempt to corner Kuldeep Sharma, the state government may file a complaint against the senior IPS officer under the Prevention of Atrocities Act, for not relieving his orderly, Magan Soma, for over 10 years. Soma, a constable deputed as orderly to Sharma, died of cardiac arrest in New Delhi last week.

Sources said that Sharma had allegedly paid no heed to the numerous official letters written to him asking him to relieve the constable. Magan was Sharma's orderly from the time the IPS officer was posted as Inspector General of Police, Ahmedabad Range.

The police department is said to have written many letters to Sharma asking him to relieve his orderly but he allegedly never replied to these letters.

"In the last couple of months alone, three letters were sent to him but we are still waiting for a reply. The constable was deputed to him some 10 years back when Sharma was posted as Ahmedabad Range IG," a source in the police familiar with the development said.

The matter is being investigated by the Ahmedabad Rural police and, according to sources, an atrocity case may be registered against Sharma soon.

But before such a case can be registered, an FIR has to be lodged by the relatives of the deceased and not the state government, the sources said.

Soma died of cardiac arrest in New Delhi last week. He is said to have gone to Delhi to deliver some belongings of the IPS officer. As he was posted with Ahmedabad rural police, a non-cognizable case was lodged with Aslali police station after his death.

"A police team recently went to Delhi to investigate his death. They collected evidence pertaining to the death of the constable, including his post-mortem report. The team is also said to be investigating the possibility of lodging an atrocity case against Sharma as Magan Soma belonged to the schedule caste," a source said.
