Insurgents close to ULFA 'commander-in-chief' arrested in Assam

The trio are close to Paresh Barua and they may have been sent to Guwahati by him for subversive activities, officials said.

A United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) secret network was busted today in Guwahati by a joint team of police and CRPF which arrested three insurgents of the outfit said to be close to its 'commander-in-chief' Paresh Barua.

The trio are close to Paresh Barua and they may have been sent here by him for subversive activities, officials said in Guwahati.

Today's arrest follows the operation launched against ULFA network in different parts of the city for the last few days during which the security forces zeroed in on the three ultras, they said.

A large quantity of explosive materials, a laptop, a pen-drive, five mobile sets and 15 SIM cards were seized from them.

The arrested are identified as Bidyut Deka alias Rajkamal Tamuli, Naba Kumar Das alias Jayanta Das and Tapan Das alias Pullak, they added.
