India will take up with Pakistan the issue of Pakistani Hindus overstaying in this country and ask it to take a sympathetic and humanitarian view on their complaint of "ill-treatment", Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur said today.

"We will take up the matter and ask Pakistan to deal with it in a very sympathetic and humanitarian way," she said.

She was responding to the issue of 114 Pakistani Hindus overstaying in India and lodged at the Majnu ka Teela area in North-East Delhi.

The Pakistani Hindus have complained of "ill-treatment" in the neighbouring country. "We live under constant terror and there is also the fear of conversion in Pakistan," they said.

"If they have overstayed and want an extention of their visa, then they would have to apply and we will see what we can do about it," she said.
