India may give BlackBerry more time for solution

India has insisted it would block some BlackBerry services next week if the smart-phone maker did not address security concerns, and government officials said they were hopeful of a solution soon.

India may extend an August 31 deadline in its standoff with Research In Motion if the BlackBerry maker says it has a solution and asks for more time, a senior government source said on Friday.

"If they say we have a solution and ask for time then we will see," the official said.

India has insisted it would block some BlackBerry services next week if the smartphone maker did not address security concerns, and government officials said they were hopeful for a solution soon.
