The adrenaline rush during the World Cup cricket match between India and Australia at Motera lasted for quite a long time - which was perfectly natural considering the magnitude of the victory over Australia.

Fans in all parts of the city went crazy and celebrated in uninhibited manner. People came out on the streets in droves; some hooted for their favourite cricketers while others burst firecrackers.

What did the cricketers do to commemorate their
hard-earned victory? They had a wonderful time at a hotel in Satellite.

A source present with the team throughout their Ahmedabad tour spoke to DNA and revealed something about the celebrations.

The source said, "The team had a wild celebration after they returned to the hotel. We were informed in advance about their arrival so we made preparations accordingly. We tightened our security and threw a grand party for them."

"The players ate cake and celebrated the moment with coach Gary Kirsten. They slept late — at 4 am. There was a room in the hotel known as the team room, where games and playstations were made available to the players, who played other games too. The team relaxed the next day by the poolside; some of them also went to the gym. Everybody enjoyed a quiet lunch at the hotel.
They will leave for Mohali on Saturday morning," added the source.

Whither security
The  tall claims of  tight security measures due to the high-level terrorist attack alert  seemed like a charade that the cops on duty were playing out by evening.

As the second innings progressed, the personal and baggage checking at the stadium was zilch! Scores of cops were seen relaxing at the venue , not bothering  to frisk the entrants or check their identity.

Earlier reports of checking every person entering the stadium and not allowing mobiles inside were reduced to nought. Thousands of people were seen talking on their mobiles or flashing them, taking pictures and videos etc.

Most of the cops were more interested in watching the match themselves rather than ensuring citizens' security. In  fact, many policemen,  sporting ‘On Duty’ budges were seen sitting in plum  seats enjoying the proceedings.

When a veteran cop saw a lady talking on the phone he only asked her to stop speaking, saying mobiles were not allowed inside. But he did not bother to alert his seniors about this infringement.
