India has conveyed its concern to Pakistan about alleged sale of pieces of land attached to Gurudwaras in that country and asked Islamabad to look into the matter.

"The matter related to sale of some of the land attached to Gurdwaras in Pakistan has caused concern among Sikhs in India and Islamabad has been asked to look into the issue," Union minister of state for external affairs Preneet Kaur told reporters here today.

The Pakistan Evacuee Trust Property Board (PETPB) has allegedly sold around 855 canals of land, including nearly 811 canals in Lahore, worth hundreds of crores of rupees on a nominal price in violation of the Nehru-Liaqat pact signed by the two prime ministers in 1950 in New Delhi.

The matter was raised in Parliament a few days ago with external affairs minister SM Krishna promising to take up the issue with Pakistan.
