Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore today dismissed allegations of sacked Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) KR Narendra Babu that he was "mentally tortured" before termination of his services.

"The CAO has done few such things that warranted his termination," IIM-I Chairman L N Jhunjhunwala told reporters here while justifying sacking of Babu. However, he said since the matter is under investigation, it will not be proper on his part to speak on the issue.

Babu has complained to the National SC/ST Commission and to the local police that IIM-I Director N Ravi Chandran has allegedly sacked him from the job on August 13 this year as he belongs to reserve category and "mentally tortured him".

Police have already initiated a probe into the complaint. Jhunjhunwala also refuted the allegation that during Ravi Chandran's tenure, 20 employees were sacked and claimed that only three staffers were dismissed from the institute. He also informed on the occasion that 20 students were doing doctoral research on various subjects at the institute.

The Chairman said from the next academic session (2010-11), the total number of MBA seats will be raised from 240 at present to 300.
