IBM, P&G pick Post Graduate Program students at IIMA

As the second cluster of final placements commenced on Friday at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A), a student landed the prime post of Executive Assistant to the Chief Operating Officer, HPCL-Mittal Energy Ltd. This company was a part of around a dozen companies which recruited Post Graduate Program (PGP) students from the 'Mecca of management'.

In fact, students were seen to be opting for a career in new sectors, such as social gaming. San Francisco based giant Zynga was a first time recruiter which offered the role of 'product manager' in their India office.

The second cluster of companies included firms conducting pre-interview processes on Thursday in the form of group discussions and tests, and offers were extended following interviews today. It consisted of five cohorts: FMCG marketing, business development, general management, financial services and technology consulting.

FMCG recruiters included regular partners like HUL, P&G, ITC, Kraft, Pepsi and Nestle, and a first time recruiter in the form of SuperMax. General management group comprised recruiters such as TAS, RIL and Lodha group. DBS, Kotak and Altisource were some of the firms in the financial services sector.

IBM visited the campus in the technology consulting area and made more than 20 offers. The FMCG marketing sector featured the largest number of firms in this cluster. Global consumer goods giant P&G also made numerous offers. Ankur Sawhney, Talent Supply Manager, P&G said, "Candidates that we recruited are among the best. We are also happy with the process and ensure efficient scheduling for both the candidates as well as the firm." The third cluster is scheduled for February 21.
