Ahmedabad city police commissioner Sudhir Sinha is a worried man these days. Not only did suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt’s wife Shweta Bhatt allege ill-treatment to her husband, fellow IPS officers too cornered the CP at the recent meeting of the association.
On Wednesday, Sinha said Bhatt and his fellow lawyers ‘hatched’ a plan to drag him into the controversy which the media would blow up. “I have specific information about a meeting of lawyers, Mukul Sinha and Iqbal Saiyad, at Bhatt’s house. It was decided to drag me into the controversy so that they can get maximum media support. They wanted to put me on the back foot and eventually Shweta Bhatt wrote letters to Union home minister P Chidambaram,†Sinha told DNA.
Sinha, who is on a three-month extension that ends on October 31, said that the controversies around him (following Sanjiv Bhatt’s arrest and subsequent raids at his house) had been systematically generated to gain publicity.
About the so-called plan at Bhatt’s house, the police chief said that Iqbal Saiyad knows him for the last two decades.
